Exchange in Focus: Costa Rica holds first responsible investment workshop

(17 May 2019) The National Stock Exchange of Costa Rica and the Asociación Costa Rica por Siempre organized the First Responsible Investment Workshop, which was held on May 17, 2019. The workshop was aimed at institutional investors, asset managers, financial and investment analysts, as well as professionals from companies in charge of corporate sustainability and finance areas that maintain relationships with investors. It is also open to the participation of business advisers. “The objective is to create awareness of the value that responsible investments provide by considering environmental, social, and corporate governance factors in the analysis and investment processes. The companies and investors that attended got the knowledge and techniques to understand and implement responsible investments in their organizations”, said Zdenka Piskulich, Executive Director of the Asociación Costa Rica por Siempre. “Responsible investment is a new investment trend worldwide and it is increasingly demanded by investors. Costa Rica has a great potential to attract this kind of investment, that is why the national stock exchange of Costa Rica is interested in training our institutional investors and other market participants. This workshop is just one more effort, our exchange does, in order to promote the sustainability through the capitals market,” said María Brenes, Director of Development and Corporate Relations of the National Stock Exchange. The agenda topics included:
  • Evolution of responsible investment.
  • How to incorporate responsible investment into the investment policies of a company
  • How to analyze a responsible investment
  • Strategies, principles and components of responsible investment.
  • International standards.
