Regulatory model
Government (Statutory) Model
  • The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is responsible for regulating the financial services markets, exchanges and firms. They have full listing authority in the UK, and have full power to monitor the markets. The FCA looks after conduct, competition and actions that occur on the London Stock Exchange. This would thus be considered a Government (Statutory) Model. According to the Commissione Nazionale per le Societa e la Borsa (CONSOB), they have been given full authority to regulate the operation of Italian markets. CONSOB was created out of Italian legislature in 1998. According to the Borsa Italia website they oversee transaction activities, rules and procedures for admission and listing, and supervise company disclosure. Thus, in this respect, it may be considered Limited Exchange SRO Model.
